A Britten-Pears Young Artist, Suzanne created the role of Katja in “O.H.I.O”/Neue Szenen at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and jumped in to sing Konstanze/Die Entführung for them in the Deutsche Oper Werkstatt. Further roles include Ginevra/Ariodante for Tristan & Associates, the Countess/Le Nozze di Figaro for Britten Pears and Gilda/Rigoletto at Berlin’s Konzerthaus.
Suzanne Fischer won first prize at the Oxford Lieder Festival YAP, the Förderpreis for most promising young artist at Das Lied in 2015 and the Pavarotti Prize at the 65th Viotti Competition, Italy. Highlights of 2016 included returning to Glyndebourne, singing Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Cuvilliés Theater in Munich and performing Elsie Suddaby in Ralph Vaughan William’s Serenade to Music with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. Suzanne also sang Schumann’s Mignon settings with international baritone Bo Skhovus and pianist Matti Hirvonen in the Oxford Lieder Festival. Suzanne is currently touring the UK singing Lady Sapphir in Patience for English Touring Opera and will return to Munich for more Rossini later in 2017.
Suzanne is a keen recitalist with pianists Jonathan Ware and Panaretos Kyriatzidis and has given recitals at the Barenboim Excellence Concerts, Oxford Lieder Festival, London Song Festival and St. John’s Smith Square, Festspiele Ruedlinger in Switzerland, the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham Bieberstein Castle in Saxony and the Midsummer Festival and Mendelssohn Remise in Berlin.
Suzanne has a BMus (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh and Università degli Studi di Milano, and completed her MMus in Voice at the Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Prof. Thomas Quasthoff. Suzanne speaks fluent Italian and German, is an avid reader of science fiction and greatly enjoys walking up large hills.
