Artist: Bootleg Pirates

Bootleg Pirates

The Bootleg Pirates are an offshoot from the Space Pirates of Rocquaine with Mark Guppy on Acoustic Guitar and vocals, Tim Corbet Mandolin and vocals Chris Denton Bass and Vocals and Claire Mockett on Drums, all the members have played in many bands between them over the years ie Rock bands such as Lifejacket, the Nelkons, the Sacred Hearts as well as playing in folk bands, we have all recorded Cd’s and have played many gigs over the years in the bailiwick with Sark being a favourite, and really looking forward to playing Alderney.

Greg is a contemporary folk artist, who writes dark soulful songs infused with internal demons, enticing lovers and stories of ragged, booze infested towns. He performs as a solo artist and as a duo with bass player, Nathan Arnaud (channeling an air of John Martyn and Danny Thompson). Greg also plays with a full backing band (as featured on his EP), giving a more powerful dimension to his lush sound.

As a singer / guitarist / banjo player, Greg also features with Sark’s* finest export, The Recks (described by Drowned In Sound as, ‘the new kings of schizophrenic folk’). Check them out here

Greg continues to be a highly accomplished violinist playing on a range of different projects from grunge to bluegrass and folk, including regular outings with the Channel Islands’** favourite street band, The Rectory Hill Skillet Lickers.
